Little Moments

I love little God-moments.
My drive to work often brings me beautiful surprises. There’s a moment when I come over the rise just past Prado Dam where the road curves and suddenly the mountains appear. After yesterday’s rains, the hills were magnificently verdigris, the sky was a clear azure, big fluffy clouds drifted gently in the sky, and the mountains were elegantly crested with snow. It was a perfect moment that I wish I could have captured on film. As I was driving, I, of course, had my radio on, and the song that was playing was Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years.” It’s a gentle, pretty song, and it made for a perfect little God-moment.
See, He created this world to be vibrant with color and sound and smell. He gave us a world bursting with the blessing of life, and He is the author of the little moments. That azure sky rimmed with milky clouds and snowy mountains and mossy hills was His design. He did that. He did that for me. He did that for you. He did that to show us that He is here. He did that to shower us in His love.
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought Your heart to me
I have loved you for a Thousand years
I’ll love you for a Thousand more
He has loved us with an everlasting love; a love that has endured every opposition, every separation; a love that has slayed every dragon, defeated every foe. It’s a love revealed in moments.
Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, He embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah. Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. -Eph 2:4-7 (MSG)
